Upon entering the office, we have some brief paperwork for you to fill out. The paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition. We encourage you to click the link to our New Patient Introduction Form, which you can simply print and fill out (those with full Adobe Acrobat can fill out online), and then either fax (973-939-8488), attach to an email ([email protected]), or simply bring with you to your first appointment.
Once the paperwork has been completed, you will have a consultation with the doctor to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options. The consultation itself is at no charge to you.
History and Examination
In order to determine what your actual problem is, the doctor will ask you various questions related to your condition. Next, a number of specialized tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.
Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to rule out more serious conditions, but principally to assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Both the Gonstead Method and Atlas Orthogonal work are very precise and specific to areas needing help, which means identifying very precisely where those areas are and in what direction adjustments need to be made. Clear chiropractic X-rays are one of the most powerful tools available to assist in this precise diagnosis (better than MRI's).
This office is equipped with state-of-the-art Digital X-ray Equipment, yielding almost immediate, high definition images, yet requiring only a fraction of the exposure time needed for old-fashioned films. On the other hand, should you have recent X-rays, please get them and bring with you (if they are clear and recent enough, we can likely use them for diagnosis). Similarly, you are encouraged to bring along a copy of any recent MRI or CT scan reports you might have.
Same Day Treatment
Once finished with the examination and all appropriate studies, patients will typically be scheduled for a follow up visit and treatment. However, in some cases (especially emergencies and very acute cases), patients may also be provided with their first treatment during this same visit. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies.
Schedule Your Next Appointment
You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1-2 days and are provided with a complete review of findings from the examination. Treatment options for your conditions will also be discussed during this time.
Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches.
